Since 1969, the Three Rivers Festival has grown to become Indiana’s second largest summer festival, a family-friendly, exciting nine-day community celebration. Headwaters Park, in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne, serves as the hub for over 80 official and affiliated Three Rivers Festival events. Over 50,000 motorists a day get an up-close view of the Festival, as Clinton Street/US Highway 27 intersects Headwaters Park. The Three Rivers Festival draws nearly half a million visitors from northeast Indiana, southern Michigan and northwestern Ohio, coming together to enjoy the fun, savor the food and catch up with old friends, all while making new friends and memories!
Official events include the televised Parade with over 150 entries, a Fine Arts fair, Crafter’s Market, Bed Race, Children’s Festival, Waiter-Waitress Contest, International Village, live entertainment, taste-tempting concessions, amusement rides and attractions, a shopping Marketplace, the Raft Race and Water Balloon Wars, and one of the largest Festival Finale Fireworks shows in Northeast Indiana.
Over 100,000 hours of volunteer hours were donated by enthusiastic community supporters for the 2013 festival. Because of the generous community support, eighty percent of festival events are free to the public. As a not-for-profit entity, Three Rivers Festival generates its revenue from sponsorship, vendor participation fees, ticket sales, gate admission at the Festival Plaza, souvenir sales, and refreshment sales. The Festival strives to keep events free or at a minimal admission fee, so that the festival is accessible to all members of the community. Three Rivers Festival continually adds new and exciting events to adapt to the ever-changing needs of our patrons, and to remain in the forefront of the public eye.
